Aly Lake our operations manager has lived in Bridgeport her entire life.  Her parents  are both religious and altruistic and her dad is a Knight of Columbus and her mom a social worker/counselor. Her parents instilled in her and her sisters the importance of being kind and holding space for others. Growing up in a diverse area, they were taught to respect and treat everyone with same dignity they hoped to receive. This resonated with Aly and she knew there was a need in the local community so she joined buildOn, a volunteer organization in her high school. This allowed Aly to serve at various non-profits and is where her passion for social service began. This led to an educational pursuit in human services and Aly continued to volunteer and intern locally.

Aly uses her education and field experience to work with our guests, neighbors and community partners to support and uplift others. "I want to make the lives of others easier because I know that in a world where many things are working against you, sometimes a small gesture makes the a big difference and might influence others to do the same" says Aly. What keeps Aly focused and motivated is knowing that the services we provide are basic human rights that no one should be denied.
