Carson Berkowitz has a long history of community service, nonprofit involvement, and volunteer leadership, supported by a professional background in economics, contract administration, and marketing. She graduated from Fairfield University with a degree in Economics and also studied for three years at California College of the Arts in Oakland, California.

 

Early in her career, Carson worked as an economist with the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. She later worked as a contract administrator with Bechtel in two California locations and as a marketing associate with CityLine Distributors in Connecticut.

 

Carson’s community involvement expanded while raising her three children. Her many years of PTA service included terms as Vice President of Fundraising and Assistant Treasurer, as well as ten years coordinating an in-school student art program. She also participated in numerous other school and community activities.

 

Carson served for six years on the board of Merkaz Hebrew High School in Bridgeport and as secretary of the board of the Israeli Young Emissary Committee. Her involvement with Congregation B’nai Israel included a variety of volunteer activities and ultimately led to what would become one of her longest-standing community commitments.

 

Carson is also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, with her father’s family lineage in America dating to Jamestown in 1618. Within her DAR chapter, she serves as House Coordinator for the historic Old Academy in Fairfield, supervising its maintenance and cleaning, and also participates in DAR community events.

 

Throughout her professional and volunteer life, Carson’s involvement has been guided by a willingness to recognize a need and find a practical way to help. Her experience encompasses nonprofit board service, fundraising, financial oversight, program coordination, food assistance, community outreach, historic preservation, and decades of hands-on volunteer service.
